Villaverde is a rural village that has developed largely on the basis of agriculture. The surrounding hills are dotted with smallholdings but growing affluence in recent years has seen some of these transformed into rather grander affairs. Villaverde is bigger than Lajares but, like Lajares, it could hardly be described as a tourist resort.
There are a couple of restaurants, El Rancho and El Horno, and a well-stocked supermarket. It is 19 kms to the beaches at El Cotillo (17 minutes by car via La Oliva) and Corralejo is at a distance of 12 kms (12 minutes by car). This location will appeal to those who are looking for quality accommodation in an authentic Fuerteventuran setting.
