the village of Triquivijate

The village of Triquivijate (prounounced Tricky-vee-harty) is situated approximately 11 kilometres (approximately 7 miles) inland from the resort of Caleta de Fuste with its sandy beach, shops and restaurants. It is a similar distance from the airport.

This location will appeal to those who are looking for peace and tranquillity in a quiet, rural setting but with the convenience of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and the beach within 15 minutes' driving time.

It is a good centre from which to explore the surrounding countryside and to experience something of the "real" Fuerteventura.

There are two small bars in the village and two restaurants, El Jardin and La Finca. El Jardin produces high quality, local food and is highly recommended. It has a small number of tables so you may need to book in advance. Also, watch out for the restricted opening times.   La Finca provides basic, rural fare from a limited menu and at very reasonable prices. It stays open until late. There is also a pizza take-away (surprising for a small village like this) which is open most evenings and which, even more surprisingly, is a butcher's shop during the day!

In the surrounding area there is a good selection of places to eat to suit most tastes and budgets. Some you might like to try:

AntiguaViewAntigua - "Pizzeria/Bar" (on a corner in the village). Good food. Excellent value for money.

Casillas del Angel (15 minutes drive from Antigua) - "El Labrador". Excellent food, service and prices. Well worth the effort. Restaurant does not open until 9 p.m.

"Los Molinos" - situated just outside Antigua (pictured here). This restaurant is part of a rural visitor centre. Open at lunchtime until mid-afternoon. Beautiful location in a converted windmill. Good food and prices.

While there is not a supermarket in the village, you will find local supermarkets in Antigua (5 minutes' drive) and Caleta de Fuste (including a hypermarket in the new commercial centre which is located opposite the entrance to the golf course).
